Rebecca Susan Burright was born on June 2, 1958, to James and Theresa (Deviney) Burright. She was born in Waterloo and grew up Ankeny where she graduated from Ankeny High School in 1977. Following graduation, Becky took a position with the Polk County Assessor’s Office where she made a career as a Residential Sales Coordinator until her retirement with over 30 years of service.
On May 21, 1994, Becky was united in marriage to John Steven Smith. The couple treasured time spent together going to antique stores and having picnics with their grandchildren. Becky was of the Irish heritage and an avid Notre Dame football fan. Her grandchildren meant the world to her and she would often bake cookies with “LML Bakery” (Liam, Mima, and Livi). Most of all, Becky loved spending time with John, her children, and grandchildren who she deeply loved.
Becky is survived by her husband of 21 years, John; children, Shawn Smith, Katie Smith-Roush, Chad Smith, and Jason Smith; grandchildren, Liam and Olivia; siblings, Jim (Donna) Burright and Joe (Karmi McConnell) Burright; sister-in-law, Sheryl Burright; many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends; as well as many surrogate children and grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Theresa Burright; siblings, Mike Burright and Patti Burright; and son-in-law, Billy Roush.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family of Becky Smith.
