

Robert E. Lee Bowersox passed on to a great pain-free life on June 12, 2010 after a short struggle with cancer. Visitation will be 4 to 7 PM, Monday, June 14, at Ankeny Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM, Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at Ankeny Funeral Home (1510 W. First St, Ankeny) with burial in Lincoln Cemetery near Polk City.
Bob was born in York, PA in 1946. His family moved to Polk City, Iowa in 1951. Bob and his wife Jann were high school sweethearts. They operated Stancoe Grocery in Polk City from 1969 until 1977. He then worked for Casey’s General Stores, Inc. He began his career at Casey’s when there were 118 stores and retired when there were 1109 stores. The last position he held at Casey’s was Vice President of Transportation.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Annie Pauline Bowersox; his grandparents; several aunts and uncles; and his cousin, Karla Hudson.
Those left to mourn his passing are his wife of 45 years, Jann; his daughter, Dawn Vetter (Dave) of Hampton, IA; his son, Joe Bowersox of Polk City, IA; his brother, Jim Bowersox (Krista) of Polk City, IA; his brother, Mark Bowersox (Kaye) of Polk City, IA; four nephews; and his pride and joy, Mitchell and Nic Vetter.
