Viola May Jones

A celebration of life for Viola and Richard Jones will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines, Iowa. Following graveside services a reception will be held at the Perkins’ home in Pleasant Hill.

Viola May Ross was born on May 13, 1925 in Des Moines, Iowa to David and Blanche Ross. She grew up in Des Moines and attended school at North High. On January 17, 1942 Richard and Viola Jones were united in marriage and blessed with two daughters, Sharon and Judy. Viola had a love for cooking and worked as a cook at Veteran’s Auditorium for 20 years. She also thought dearly of her family at Courtyard Estates.

Survivors include her daughters, Sharon (Danny) Perkins and Judy (Cary) Bissell; grandchildren, Steve, Kevin (Holly), Tim (Kelly), Nicole (Norm), Cherelle, Gary, Trevor, Karl, and Kim; great-grandchildren, Amanda, Brittney, Hannah, Roman, Astor, Alexis, Lauren, Leyla, Landon, Charisma, and Calypso; brother-in-law/son, Dennis (Dyanne) Jones; and sisters-in-law, Phyllis Webb, Hazel Jones, and Mary Jones.

Viola was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Richard.
