Audella Lemen, age 99, passed away on June 15, 2012 following a brief illness at Brookdale Assisted Living in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Paul Jurgensen and her beloved friend Mary Lou Dunlavy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis in 1962 and her sister Dorthea Stackable in 2008. Audella spent her younger years in Whitmore Lake, Michigan. She married in 1937, and she and her husband moved to Detroit in 1940 where Ellis was employed as an elementary school teacher, and Audella was a full time mother and homemaker. She was a devoted and generous mother and had a close bond with her only daughter, Joyce. Della loved being out in nature and was an avid gardener, she also enjoyed sewing and travel. Della had a unique ability to entertain others which brought much laughter and enjoyment to those around her. She was an uplifting and popular presence at Brookdale. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She attended the Methodist Church when young but always held God and Jesus close in her heart. The family would like to extend immense gratitude to Mary Lou Dunlavy who was Della’s devoted, caring and daily companion over the last five years of her life and also a close friend in earlier years. Mary Lou was her best “buddy” and provided the great love, kindness and support that Della needed during her final years. We are also thankful to the residents and staff of Brookdale for their care and friendship. Please visit www.muehligannarbor to leave a condolence.
