Benita Ronquillo Alva

Born on March 21, 1940, in San Nicolás Solís municipio de temascalcingo estado de México, Benita lived a life defined by unwavering faith, tireless devotion to her family, and extraordinary strength. She was a woman who truly could do it all.

Benita and her beloved husband, Severiano Romero, met in the village where they both grew up and were later married, beginning a lifelong partnership built on love, hard work, and faith. Together they raised thirteen children, creating a home filled with love, discipline, and endless sacrifices. While raising her large family, Benita also maintained the family farm, caring for numerous animals, and operated a grocery store. She was always the first one awake each morning and the last to go to bed each night, ensuring that everyone and everything was cared for before taking time for herself.

There seemed to be nothing Benita could not accomplish. She lovingly sewed clothing for her children, repaired whatever was broken around the home, and maintained beautiful gardens that reflected her nurturing spirit. She was an exceptional cook who believed no one should ever leave her table hungry, and family and friends were always welcomed with a hearty meal and a full belly.

In 2021, Benita moved to the United States to be closer to her children, cherishing every opportunity to spend time with the family she loved so deeply.

Above all else, Benita's greatest love was her Catholic faith. She was a devoted Catholic who faithfully prayed the Rosary every day and found comfort and strength in her relationship with God. Her faith guided every aspect of her life and served as an enduring example to her children and grandchildren. In her quieter moments, she enjoyed tending to her garden, sewing, and watching her favorite telenovela, La Rosa de Guadalupe.

Benita was preceded in death by her husband, Severiano Romero, and her daughter Susana Romero.

She is survived by her 12 children: Felipe Romero, Reynaldo Romero, Filemón Romero, Efraín Romero, Isael Romero, Grisel Romero, Liseth Romero, Virginia Romero, Rosaura Romero, Beatriz Elena Romero, and Elvira Romero. She also leaves behind numerous cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family members, and dear friends, all of whom will forever treasure her unconditional love, unwavering strength, and selfless spirit.

Although her family mourns the loss of a remarkable mother, grandmother, and matriarch, they find comfort in knowing her legacy lives on through the values she instilled: faith, resilience, generosity, and unconditional love.
