Bernadine was a trailblazer. She raised sons Greg and Tim as a single mother while she broke boundaries in the male-dominated construction profession, earning Bachlor's Degree In Construction Engineering and a Master’s in Urban Planning and leading a distinguished career with Michigan State University. Her life’s work and commitment to the revival of urban areas found expression in her personal life as she restored an historic building in Lansing’s Old Town neighborhood, creating unique commercial and residential spaces, including her own, which was admired by all those blessed to spend time with her there. A visionary, Bernadine also had the hands-on engineering skills to bring into reality her designs. Fiercely independent, she explored Europe on her own and cavorted in Costa Rica at age 70. She was surrounded by family at the time of her passing and will be sorely missed.
