

Potter, Betty Jo 8/18/1929 - 11/5/2015 Ann Arbor, Michigan Betty Jo Potter, 86, died peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, November 5, 2015, at Huron Woods in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Betty was a long-time resident of Ann Arbor's Old West Side and spent her last two years at Huron Woods. She was born Betty Jo Sullivan in Columbia, Missouri, to John and Josephine Sullivan. She attended Hickman High School, Stephens College and the University of Missouri. Betty was an elementary school teacher in Columbia, but left teaching after marrying and starting her family. She moved to Ann Arbor in 1960 and later worked as an office manager at the University of Michigan Graduate Business School, retiring in 1992. Betty loved music, theater, art, reading and playing cards. She supported many charities and volunteered for The American Red Cross. Betty is survived by her sons Alan, and his wife Shirley, of Ypsilanti Township; and Mark, and his wife Judith, of Coral Gables, Florida; along with many nieces and nephews from the family of her late brother, Charles Sullivan, and his wife, Linda. A memorial service celebrating the life of Betty Jo Potter will be held Tuesday, November, 17, at 2:30 p.m. in the Huron Woods Chapel in the Towsley Health Building, 5361 McAuley Drive, Ypsilanti, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, her family suggests donations be made in Betty's memory to The American Red Cross.
