Charles Blakemore (Blake) Arnold, age 75, died peacefully on November 30, 2012. Blake was born on July 17, 1937 in Detroit Michigan, the son of the late C. F. (Fred) and Margaret Arnold. A graduate of Cranbrook Schools in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, Blake later attended the University of Michigan and graduated with a degree in engineering in 1959. His early career was with the University of Michigan Institute of Science and Technology (E.R.IM.) and later retired from General Dynamics in 1998. Blake’s area of specialization was infrared and optics technology. Blake was a ham radio enthusiast (W8MNT) and an active member of the ARROW Communications Associations.
He married Barbara Jane Bertram of Dundas, Ontario, Canada, on April 27, 1963. They have 3 children, Catherine Margaret Cost, Carolyn Elizabeth Arnold and Christen Arnold Mitchell and 5 grandchildren, Meredith Barbara Mitchell, Bethany Carrie Mitchell, Blake Charles Cost, Katie Anne Cost and Samantha Nicole Cost. He is also survived by his sister Lois (Richard) McClaughry. A devoted family man, many summers were often enjoyed at Black Lack Michigan at the family cottage.
Family and friends can celebrate his life with a memorial service sometime in the new year at Holy Faith Episcopal/Lutheran Church in Saline Michigan, where he was a faithful and active member. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holy Faith Church.
