
Ellen Joanne (Jo) Sauter of Ann Arbor passed away peacefully at home on January 8, 2013 at the age of 85. Born December 1st in Flint, Michigan to Frank and Ellen Wiltz, Jo spent her formative years in Flint, graduating from Flint Northern High School, and settling in the Ann Arbor area in 1956. As a wife, mother, homemaker and manager, Jo provided a beautiful and caring atmosphere for her husband and her sons. As a member of the Chelsea Painters, Jo was an accomplished water color artist for over 20 years. Jo’s paintings grace the homes of family, friends, and art patrons throughout the country. Jo is survived by her husband of 64 years, James; her sons Lawrence (Denise) of Northern Michigan and Charles (Robin) of Upper Arlington, Ohio; Grandchildren James, Benjamin, Leslie, Thomas, Kyle; and great-grandchildren Cole, Austin, Mallory, Amelia. Jo is survived by her brother William (Lorraine) Wiltz of Grand Blanc, Michigan. A celebration of Jo’s life will be held at Travis Pointe Country Club, 2829 Travis Pointe Road, Ann Arbor, Michigan 48108 on Saturday, January 26, 2013 between 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that gifts be made in memory of Jo Sauter in support of ALS research at the Program for Neurology Research & Discovery at the University of Michigan Health System.
