How does one write an obituary for a bright light that has been extinguished much too soon at the age of 28? For someone who brought immeasurable love and joy starting from his birth in January 1996 in Berkeley, CA to his passing in November 2024 in Ann Arbor, MI. For someone with a heart of gold who cared deeply for everyone, including the marginalized, underserved, unnoticed, and lonely. For someone who was a wonderful brother to his loving sister Laura. For someone who made his parents, Paul and Barb, exceedingly proud and excited for each step of his journey. For someone with a brilliant mind that was evident from his preschool through high school years in Eden Prairie, MN to his undergraduate studies at Duke University to his master’s degree at Georgetown University to his 2-year journey at the University of Michigan Medical School. For someone who became an Eagle scout and showed great leadership. For a cross country and Nordic ski athlete who was chosen to be captain because of his ability to reach out to all team members. For a musician who played piano and cello before focusing on trumpet and excelling in marching band in high school, college, and with the Cadets of Drum Corps International. For someone who directed the marching and pep bands at Duke University for football and basketball games. For someone with a kind smile and intensely dry sense of humor. For someone who connected with people each day and made the world a better place. For someone who was on track to become an amazing oncologist. For someone who will be dearly missed forever by his family and friends. How does one write such an obituary?
