She was the daughter of the late Stanley and Mary Pirog. Beloved wife of Joseph Malus. Loving mother of Judy Chase, Kevin (Karen)Malus and Alan (Kathy) Malus. Loving grandmother of Brittany (Steven Galperin), Joseph (Amanda) Malus, Alex (Brigette) Malus, Logan (Leah) Chase, Michael, and Katie Malus. Great-grandmother of Gabby Malus and Grace Galperin. Helen was preceded in death by her brothers Mike and John.
Helen loved many adventures, from her time living in France, where she fine-tuned her culinary skills, to visiting every museum she could in Europe, where she honed her artistic skills. Her skill in painting on porcelain a wide variety of subjects, including her children and grandchildren, won her many accolades over the years.
Helen lived for her children and grandchildren, celebrating their achievements and ensuring they could visit a country of their choice upon graduation to experience the culture, art, and cuisine she loved in Europe.
Her other love was the Detroit Tigers, whom she would avidly follow through their successes and tough seasons.
Her final years were spent at Atria Park, where she made many friends, including her sidekick, Tony, with whom they would be the first on the bus for trips, whether to the grocery store, museum, or ballpark. She loved to tease and joke with everyone she met, and always wanted to know their stories and take the time to engage with them so they felt special.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 4th, at 11 am at Muehling Funeral Chapel, 403 South Fourth Avenue, Ann Arbor, MI 48104.
