

Janet Anderson Warrick passed away peacefully on July 19, 2023. She was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Ina and John Anderson. She was predeceased by her sister, Catherine Anderson Bidwell, husband, Woodward A. Warrick, daughter Cecily Barksdale Warrick, as well as her granddaughter, Mary Barksdale Cherna.
Janet earned her Bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University and her Master’s degree from the University of Michigan. Throughout her life, she had a passion for education and teaching. Janet worked as a teacher for the deaf and hearing impaired for many years, impacting countless students.
Outside of her professional life, Janet had a love for sports, particularly tennis. She spent countless hours on the court working on her game. Janet was also an animal lover adopting many cats and dogs, as well as rescuing English Mastiffs.
Janet was a resident of Ann Arbor and previously lived in Plymouth. She spent most of her life in Michigan , growing up in Detroit and the Upper Peninsula. She cherished her summers on Mackinac Island, her favorite place on the world.
Janet is survived by her daughter,
Courtney Warrick Cherna (Andy), and her grandchildren, Andrew Cherna (Katie) and Regan Cherna. She was also blessed with a great-grandson, Clifford. Janet’s family meant the world to her, and she cherished the time she spent with them.
Janet was a member of Kappa kappa Gamma and St. Andrew’s Episcopal church, and made lifelong friendships along the way.
I’m her later years, Janet lived at Glacier Hills in Ann Arbor. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Kat Butler and her team at Glacier Hills for the exceptional care provided to Janet during her time there.
Services will be private. In lieu of flowers,
the family kindly requests donations be made to the humane society of Huron Valley or the Alzheimer’s Association in Janet’s Memory.
