17 febrero , 195622 marzo , 2021

Joanne M. Bell-Trees (2/17/1956-3/22/2021) of Ann Arbor, died peacefully at Arbor Hospice on March 22nd, 2021. Joanne is survived by her daughter Kathryn Bell, brother Gordon Bell, cats Sasha and Amber, and many friends and family members. She is preceded in death by her parents Hugh Clay Bell Jr., Dr. Mary Patrica Lauderdale, husband, Dr. Robert Trees, and sister Gloria Sulieman.

Joanne was born February 17th, 1956 in Louisville, Kentucky. She attended Sacred Heart Model School, continued on to the University of Louisville and graduated from Michigan State University. Joanne spent many years traveling Asia, and fell in love with the Japanese culture. Joanne then moved to Ann Arbor and worked for the National Weather Service. In 1993, Joanne adopted her daughter Kathryn and dedicated her time to being a full time mom. She returned to work as a noon hour supervisor at Burns Park Elementary School where she worked for 14 years. During that time Joanne also worked for Kids Club (Community Day Care). Joanne married her love after 33 years in 2017. She had a passion for art and music, traveling, cats, and spending time with her family. She fought cancer with optimism and courage, and when the cancer came back she wasn’t mad, she was ready to fight back. Joanne had the most amazing sense of humor, and was always making people laugh. She used to always say “ I’m not laughing at you, I’m laughing with you.” She was an unforgettable and loving woman, we will all miss her dearly.

A memorial service is being held May 1st, 2021 from noon until 5pm with a short service at 2:30pm at Muehlig Funeral Chapel, 403 S. 4th Ave. Ann Arbor, MI 48104. All are welcome to come celebrate Joannes life. Flowers and condolences can be sent to Muehlig Funeral Chapel. Your home was one of the most welcoming places I’ve ever been. I loved the memories we shared in that living room, telling stories and laughing till we cried, or the dinners we shared with the guests that rented out rooms upstairs. I’m so thankful to have met you. Your kindness and beautiful soul will always be remembered.
