Con profundo dolor, pero también con inmenso amor y gratitud, compartimos la partida de nuestro querido papá, Jose Luis Gomez Melchor, quien falleció el 19 de Mayo de 2025 en Ann Arbor, Michigan, a los 53 años de edad.

Nació en el Distrito Federal, México, Jose Luis fue un hombre trabajador desde muy joven, comenzando con su familia en el mercado de flores “Jamaica” en la Ciudad de México. Hace 27 años hizo de Ann Arbor su hogar, donde trabajó con pasión y entrega en diferentes áreas -por muchos años en restaurantes, donde demostraba su increíble talento en la cocina, y más recientemente en mantenimiento residencial y comercial junto a su yerno, Alex.

Pero más allá del trabajo, lo que definía a nuestro papá era el inmenso amor por su familia. Cada rincón de su casa hablaba de nosotros -su hijo, hijas y nietos- a través de fotos y recuerdos que llenaban sus paredes y su corazón.

Lo extrañaremos profundamente: Luis Blas, Julia Eliana, Melina Victoria y America Valeria Gomez-Dominguez y sus amados nietos: Jalex, Maya Eva, Isaiah Blas y Jaxiel.

También lo recuerdan con cariño su hermano, hermanas, sus cuñados, sobrinos, y tantos amigos que lo conocieron y lo quisieron.

Estuvo casado por 20 años con Socorro Dominguez, madre de sus cuatro hijos. Sus vidas tomaron diferentes caminos pero siempre mantuvieron una relación amigable con un enfoque en el bienestar de sus cuatros hijos juntos. Lo precedieron en vida sus padres, Alicio Gomez y Julia Melchor, con quien ahora está reunido con ellos.

With deep sorrow, but also with immense love and gratitude, we share the passing of our beloved father, Jose Luis Gomez Melchor, who passed away on May 19, 2025, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, at the age of 53.

Born in Mexico City, Jose Luis was a hardworking man from a very young age, beginning his journey working with his family in the Jamaica flower market in Mexico City. He made Ann Arbor his home 27 years ago, where he worked with passion and dedication in various fields - for many years in restaurants, where he showcased his incredible talent in the kitchen, and more recently in residential and commercial maintenance alongside his son-in-law, Alex.

But beyond work, what defined our father was his immense love for his family. Every corner of his home spoke of us - his children and grandchildren - through photos and memories that filled his walls and heart.

We will miss him deeply: Luis Blas, Julia Eliana, Melina Victoria, and America Valeria Gomez-Dominguez, and his beloved grandchildren: Jalex, Maya Eva, Isaiah Blas, and Jaxiel.

He is also fondly remembered by his brother, sisters, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and the many friends who knew and loved him.

He was married for 20 years to Socorro Dominguez, mother of his four children. Their lives took different paths, but they always maintained a friendly relationship, focused on the well-being of their four children together. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alicio Gomez and Julia Melchor, with whom he is now reunited.
