She was born on Sept. 12, 1947 in Ishpeming in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, the daughter of John (“Muna”) and Eileen (“Twiggie”) Kaikkonen. Libby worked for the University of Michigan Law Library for 32 1/2 years, retiring in Jan. 1998. She will always be remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother, daughter, and sister. She loved music of all kinds, loved to sing and to dance, movies, books, newspapers, the deep woods, rivers, a great big snow storm, a noisy rain storm, the sun, the moon, the stars, and the aurora borealis. She loved camping and fires in the U.P. with mom and with friends and family, strolling through leaf-strewn paths in fall, wild flowers, and birds.
She leaves behind her son, Abraham John Kaikkonen, granddaughters, Brittany Ann, Jacey Kate, and Kaija, many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, Tammy Kaikkonen and Jessie Kaikkonen and Kelly (Dave) Baston, as well as the entire Hyttinen family, Junne family, aunts, uncles, cousins and special friends, Carla Baumann, Barbara Brown French, Dallas (Linda) Powers, Roy Tanabe, Bill Close, Steve Koppensteiner, and many, many others over the years. She was preceded in death March 1997 by her long-time companion, “Farrah”, her parents Eileen and John Kaikkonen and her brother Jack (Cheryl) Kaikkonen.
