With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Kenneth Samuel Cahill, a devoted husband, loving father and a proud veteran. He was a man of unwavering faith who left this world on January 19, at the age of 87. Ken was a man who lived life fully and embraced each moment with joy. Born on February 14, 1937 in Washington, PA, where he lived until his teenage years when he moved to Detroit, Michigan. He then felt led to serve his country with honor in the United States Army, where he was a paratrooper and served during the Korean War stationed in Germany.
In his early years, he met the love of his life, Joan, and created a wonderful story. Married for an extraordinary 64 years, their partnership was built on love and faith. Together they built a beautiful life, raising a family that he cherished above all else. Ken was an avid golfer and found a lot of laughter when he golfed with his friends (only tossing a club once in a while). He often sported his favorite color red, which was a nod towards his vibrant personality. As a lifelong Christian, he found solace in gospel music and enjoyed listening to classic hymns.
Ken was actively involved in Family Life Community Church where he was a member for 52 years. This was his greatest passion.
Ken is preceded in death by his father Kenneth Charles Cahill, mother Ella Rena Kinnan, brothers Bobby Charles, Eddy, and sisters Rena, Jane, Patty, Jerry, and Marlene.
Ken is survived by his loving wife Joan Margaret Cahill, sons Ken Cahill (Sue DiDomizio), Christopher Daniel Cahill (Denise Cahill), Scott Ashley Cahill (Beverly Cahill), daughter Dara Lael Chick (Justin Chick), 10 Grandchildren, 15 Great-Grandchildren and sisters Jackie Fisher and Joyce Young.
Services for Kenneth will be held on Thursday, January 23 at Muehlig Funeral Chapel (403 S. Fourth Ave., Ann Arbor MI, 48104). Visitation with the family will begin at 2pm and go until 6:30pm. The Funeral Service begins at 7pm.
As we say goodbye, we take comfort in knowing that he has found eternal peace in the arms of his Savior, and we carry his memory in our hearts forever.
