She attended Immaculata High School, and graduated from the Mercy School of Nursing in Detroit. On August 24, 1957, she married Paul Andrew Kelley, and they moved to Ann Arbor, where he was attending the University of Michigan Medical School. She joined the Nursing Staff at (Old) St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital on North Ingalls, where Dr. Kelley subsequently established a practice as an Orthopedic Surgeon.
