

Mike graduated from St. Thomas High School, where he lettered in cross country, baseball, and basketball. He went on to attend Eastern Michigan University before enlisting in the United States Air Force. While stationed at Shaw Air Force Base, Mike became a Judo champion for the Air Force.
After completing his military service, Mike worked for the Ann Arbor Public School District as a bus driver for more than 15 years. He later worked for several car dealerships, where he transported clients and vehicles.
Mike had a lifelong love of sports and passed that passion on to his children. He was a devoted fan of Michigan sports, especially the Detroit Lions and Detroit Tigers and the Michigan Wolverines, and he also enjoyed bowling. Mike loved riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle and cherished the freedom and joy it brought him.
Mike is survived by his children; Valerie (Bill) Stolberg, Patrick (Kristin) Richter, and Christene (Brett Border) Richter, his grandchildren; Madeline Border and Braeden Border, his siblings; Elizabeth(Tom) Knight, Catherine Kohn, and Carol (David) Werth. Mike is also survived by his former wife, Charlene Davies.
Mike is preceded in death by his beloved brother Robert "Bob" Richter, and his sisters; Mary and Peggy.
A small gathering will be held on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at Muehlig Funeral Chapel, located at 403 South Fourth Ave, Ann Arbor, Michigan, from 12:00 pm until the time of service at 1:00 pm.
Mike will be laid to rest at St. Thomas Cemetery following the service with Air Force Military Honors.
