

Myrtle Marian Willoughby, 90, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday afternoon, June 6, 2017 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital – Chelsea. Mrs. Willoughby was born on July 17, 1926 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Byron J. and Mildred (nee: Wheaton) Green. With her family she moved to Detroit and later Ann Arbor. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Michigan and was a school teacher.
She met Robert J. Willoughby in a U of M InterVarsity Christian Fellowship group and through attending Grace Bible Church. She married Robert on August 4, 1950. In November of 1956, she gave birth to her first two sons: David and Jim. In October of 1958, Mrs. Willoughby had her third son, Alan. She was a stay at home mother until her sons grew up and she returned to teaching. Among her hobbies, she was an avid reader, enjoyed quilting and sewing, cooking, canning, baking and playing her piano.
Mrs. Willoughby is survived by her husband of 66 years, Robert. Sons, David Willoughby, Jim (Jean) Willoughby and Alan (Nancy) Willoughby along with her sister, Marjorie Swanson. Mrs. Willoughby was predeceased by her brother, Thomas Green.
Friends may visit the family from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service 11:00 a.m. at Knox Presbyterian Church, 2065 South Wagner Road, Ann Arbor, Michigan 48103. Rev. Robert Lynn presiding.
