Opal Hopper of Dexter and Ann Arbor, MI. passed away peacefully on September 4, 2020 at Brookdale Senior Living. She was born on June 1, 1923 in Angola, Indiana to James Kaufman and Vera Isenhower. She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years Carl C. Hopper (2014) and her son-in-law Robert Shoop (2015). Opal is survived by her three children: Douglas Hopper (Barbara) of Nashville, TN, Diana Shoop of N. Attleboro, MA, and Nancy Chizek (Robert) of Ann Arbor, MI as well as seven grandchildren: Chuck, Kirstin and Eric Hopper, Matthew (Jill) Shoop, Dan (Meredith) Chizek, Lisa (Scott) Mulka and Jennifer Chizek. Also survived by eight great grandchildren: Katie Swaringen, Jason Hopper, Sophia and Christoper Shoop, Nathan and Zachary Chizek, Charlotte and Jacob Mulka.
She enjoyed traveling, reading, baking, playing cards, needlework, sewing, bowling, doing word search and crossword puzzles and watching Hallmark movies. She loved spending time with her family whenever possible with lots of stories and laughter around the noisy dinner table with the little kids entertaining. After 97 years she has left us with many treasured memories. She was a true example of the “greatest generation.” She was a loving, quiet role model to us all and such a lady in every way…. We will all miss her so very much…. Cremation as taken place with a service to held at a later date.
