On Saturday, June 22, 2019, Richard Dale Knight (Dick), passed away peacefully at the age of 89. Dick was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan to James and Esther Knight on August 2, 1929. After graduating from Ann Arbor High School in 1947, he joined the United States Air Force. During his military career he served overseas in both the Korea and Vietnam conflicts. After 20 years of service he retired from the Air Force in 1968. His job experience in the military led to a long career as a computer analyst for Conductron, EDS, and CPHA. He retired in 1991. Dick was passionate about being a veteran and was involved in the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Vietnam Veterans of America, and was a member of the Washtenaw Honor Guard. He enjoyed vacationing, camping, boating, and golfing.
Dick was preceded in death by his father, James Knight, his mother Esther Knight, his son Ricky Knight, and his sister-in-law Eloise Knight. Dick is survived by his brother Tom Knight, three children Jim Knight, Sherry Ison (Gary), and Kathy Dey (Andy), 8 grandchildren, Rachel Rachedi (Ramin), Nathan Dey (Lina), Shane Ison (Caitlin), Sarah Piggott (Mac), Jesse Ison, Jenny Knight, Brett Ison (Rachele), and Sheryl Knight, 15 great grandchildren, niece Julie Tobin (Mike), and nephew Charles Knight (Bonnie).
Funeral services will be Saturday, June 29th, at the Muehlig Funeral Chapel in Ann arbor, MI. Visitation starting at 9:30, and funeral service with military honors at 11:00. A burial ceremony will follow at Washtenong Memorial Park. A luncheon will be provided with details to follow.
