Bob Sims was born in Detroit, Michigan to Arthur Sims and Faye Simon Sims. Bob loved magic tricks as a boy and played several instruments – flute, piccolo, piano, recorder, tenor and alto saxophone. He graduated from the University of Michigan in the early days of computers becoming a pioneer in systems design and ultimately running a successful specialized computer personnel and projects company, Software Services. Bob loved puns and being playful. He loved movement – flying airplanes, riding motorcycles and driving cars. He also loved dancing, roller skating, ice skating, tapdancing, ushering, being active and attending concerts, plays and movies. He was active in the Ann Arbor Jewish community through his involvement with the Federation and the Jewish Cultural Society. He treasured his small family, wife Elaine, daughter Megan and grandson, Mario. After retirement he devoted energies choreographing the flying of radio control helicopters to music, becoming recognized internationally. He also took up snowboarding in his senior years, traveling with groups such as the Ski Geezers and Grays on Trays. Through his many years with Dementia, he never lost his playfulness, punning or appreciation for life, sunrises and sunsets, loved ones and friends.
