

Yvonne Greull (a.k.a. Madame Greull) died on Memorial Day, May 27, 2019 in Franklin Village, Michigan. Mrs. Greull was preceded by her baby daughter Karen Sue and her husband of 12 years, Dr. Gerhard Greull. Yvonne graduated from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio and pursued graduate studies at the University of Michigan and Eastern Michigan University. She was a junior high and high school French teacher in the Ann Arbor Public School System for eleven years and English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher for seventeen years. Professional experiences also included a three-year teaching assignment in Europe. Yvonne was loved and respected by teachers and students alike. She kept in touch with colleagues and former students—especially her ninth-grade student Rob Montry who serves as Executive Assistant to the Vice Chancellor and University Ombuds at the University of Michigan-Flint. Yvonne loved nature, the ocean, and exploration and travel. Travel destinations included North America, South America, Eastern and Western Europe, the Middle East, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Oman, China, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand. New friendships were forged during her frequent travels in Cairo, Romania, Hawaii, and Brazil. Yvonne liked to cook, and experience different ethnic cuisines. Mrs. Greull thanks the many smart, dedicated, kind, and excellent physicians who cared for her through the years. These included Dr. Arthur Tai of IHA Ann Arbor and Dr. Barbara A. Threatt, Medical Director, of the Comprehensive Breast Center. Physicians with the University of Michigan Health System included Dr. Steven Bolling, Dr. Frank Bogun, Dr. Mark Bitzer, Dr. Ronald D. Chervin, Dr. Justin B. Dimick, Dr. Nazanene H. Esfandiari, Dr. Charisse F. Gencyuz, Dr. John R. Henkenlively, Dr. Philip Troy Henning, Mr. Gary Jeromin of MedQuip, Dr. Richard Soon Young Kwon, Dr. James K. Richardson, Dr. Alan Sugar, Dr. Theodore J. Standiford, Dr. Amy L. Tremper, Dr. Elina Yamada, and Dr. Mark D. Zahn, DDS. The family additionally thanks Joyce Johnson, and the caring and loving staff of Tranquil Place. Visitation will be held at Muehlig Funeral Chapel on Thursday, June 13th from 5-8pm. The funeral service will be at at First Presbyterian Church in Ann Arbor at 1432 Washtenaw Ave, on Friday, June 14th at 10:00am. The Reverend Melissa Anne Rogers will be the officiant.
