On Wednesday, September 29th, Baker Mae Aherne, age 20, passed peacefully with her family by her side holding her hand. Mae Mae, “Missy”, “The Misser”, “Von Vunter”, is back home with God where she will be fully healed and fully whole. Her family is comforted knowing she is talking His ear off and probably asking “where’s Mom and can I have a Coke?”.
Mae Mae has always been and continues to be an inexpressible blessing and light to all who knew her. She possessed a sacred and magnetic personality perfectly designed by God. Her pure unblemished heart, her smiling eyes, her authenticity radiating joy drew people in and she immediately loved them. She never judged, she only hugged. It was impossible to know Mae and remain unchanged. No one could watch her or know her and not be moved by the love she had for family, friends, and strangers.
Mae Mae’s favorite things were her home, her gaga, snuggling mom, teasing dad, FaceTiming Henry, riding with Patrick to Wando, Ella and Ella’s T-shirts, Caffrin, Dut, squeezing Kevin, always her teachers, her classmates, Elf, comfy pants, t-shirts, errands, Coke, Publix subs, pepperoni and salami, sour patch kids, Jimmy Johns, birthday parties, car rides, Stuart Little, bedtime, Folly Beach, bonfires at Dut’s condo, Ruru’s dock, watching NCIS Los Angeles and Netflix, dressing up for Halloween, and, of course, all of her cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents.
Her family, Brooke and David Aherne, brothers Henry and Patrick, and sister Ella will be forever grateful that God chose to give Mae to them. Her family supported Mae while she carried out God’s work. God knew they would always need support so He always provided special people in Mae’s life. Her family is forever grateful to Duster Burnett and her family and Catherine Peeples and her family. Thank you for loving her completely just like her family loves her. She will be intensely missed.
A memorial service for Baker will be held Thursday, October 7, 2021 from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM at Saint Mary's Catholic Church, 109 Duke of Gloucester St, Annapolis, Maryland 21401.
