Oldest child of Harrison Bradford Wyman & Frances (Musgrove) Wyman, Betty was born and raised in Montgomery County, Maryland and graduated from Montgomery Blair High School.
Betty married James (Jim) Henry Wilson IV, (died 1986), in 1952. Jim was the love of her life and they raised six children together.
Betty and Jim moved to the Whitehall Beach community in Annapolis, Maryland in 1957, where Betty lived until her death.
Betty is survived by five of her six children: Pamela Cole (Chapman), Barbara Smith, Sandra Tonker (Patrick), James H. Wilson V (Kari), Frances Cole (Matthew), and Bradford Lee Wilson (died 1970).
After raising their children, Betty went to work at the Department of Natural Resources in the Tidal Wetlands Division from which she retired in 1994. This was a whole new chapter of life for Betty and she loved her work family.
The "Boys" in her department would call out to her "Mom, I will be back..." when leaving the office for appointments. They would also answer the phones for her on Friday afternoons, so she could leave a little early for her standing salon appointment, which earned her the nickname the "Silver Fox". She made many wonderful, lifelong friends at DNR.
Betty loved sweets, occasionally having dessert before and after dinner, but still kept her girlish figure. Chocolate Mousse, Coconut Cake, and Nothing Bundt Cake's White Chocolate Raspberry were favorites!
Betty was always exceptionally well dressed. Clothes and shoes were a passion, and she especially enjoyed snagging a hidden gem off of the Sale rack. Many of the salespersons at Woodies, Lord & Taylor and Macy's knew her by name.
In retirement, Betty enjoyed working cross word and jigsaw puzzles, ironing, spending time with family, and traveling. Betty visited Paris, London, Ireland, the Great Lakes, National Parks to include Bryce, Yellowstone, & the Grand Canyon. Betty found enjoyment in her many visits to Snow Hill, Md., Florida and Maine.
Betty was a very devoted Mother, Grandmother (8), and Great Grandmother (17). She was always willing to go and do whatever was necessary to help out her family.
Betty was a delightful, engaging, and beautiful woman. She was greatly loved by all who knew her and will be truly missed.
A private celebration of life will take place at a later date.
Betty was given excellent care by Hospice of the Chesapeake. Betty supported the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society & St. Jude Children's Hospital.
