

Frances Louise Brownfield Childs died at the age of 97 at Ginger Cove on December 9, 2014. Frances, affectionately known as Fran, was born in Morgantown, West Virginia on February 15, 1917 to the late Susan T. Brownfield and Harry J. Brownfield. She grew up there with her beloved brothers, Henry and David Brownfield. Frances attended Morgantown High School and the University of WVA and graduated from Strayers Business College. During WWII she worked in Personnel for Glen L. Martin Co. in Baltimore. She married Robert Worthington Waters, and had two daughters, Susan Parke and Ann Beeson. She later married Julian Nathan Childs. They lived in Ferry Farms for 34 years and had three sons, Julian McDorman, David Maddux, and James Henry. Fran worked for 35 years for the Auxiliary of Anne Arundel Medical Center. She was a long time member of the Ladies 18 Hold Group at the US Naval Academy Golf Course. After the death of her husband, she resided in Heritage Harbor and Ginger Cove. Frances is survived by her five children, Susan Steele, Ann Ward, Jay Childs, David Childs, and Jamie Childs, nine grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren. A funeral service and internment will be held at 9 AM Saturday, January 10, 2015 at All Hallows Chapel, 864 West Central Avenue, Davidsonville, MD 21035. Friends are invited to join the family after the service at a reception at Ginger Cove, 4000 River Crescent Drive. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Boys & Girls Club of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County, 121 South Villa Avenue, Annapolis, MD 21401.
