

J. B. Randol Carroll, Jr. On May 24, 2015, J.B. Randol Carroll, Jr. passed away in the presence of his loving family. He was 81 years old. He was born May 4, 1934 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late James Butterworth Randol Carroll and the late Mary Galt Goldsborough Carroll. He was a descendent of Charles Carroll of Carrollton, one of Maryland’s four signers of the Declaration of Independence. Mr. Carroll graduated in 1953 from the Gilman School and from Princeton University in 1957 with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering. While at Princeton he was a member of the Ivy Club and played varsity lacrosse. After graduating from the Officer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island, he served as an officer in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Stickell. He was honorably discharged from the Navy and worked in chemical engineering positions in Baltimore and the Philadelphia area. He retired to Chestertown, Maryland in 1998 from the PQ Corporation in Valley Forge, PA where he was Vice-President of Technology. He enjoyed sailing on the Chesapeake Bay, carpentry and gardening. He was a past member of the Rock Hall Yacht Club and a member of the St . Paul’s Anglican Church in Crownsville, Maryland. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Anne Lampman Carroll; two sons, James R. Carroll of Crofton, Maryland, and William E.C. Carroll of North Bend, Washington, as well as four grandchildren, Ellis, Randol, Kian and Betsy; a sister, Ellenor Lloyd DeAngelis of Fayetteville, PA and a brother, William F. G. Carroll of Baltimore. A memorial service will be held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Crownsville, on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Box 380, Crownsville, MD 21032.
