Jenny grew up and lived in the family home in Glenn Dale, MD. The home was originally occupied by her great-grandmother and was one of several dwellings on multiple acres. Her Grandmother Louise lived in the home across the driveway where Jenny’s mother and uncles were raised. The family home was the site of many pool parties and game nights throughout her life. After the family property was sold in 2014, Jenny moved to Annapolis, MD.
After graduating from DuVal High School in 1984, Jenny held a variety of administrative positions in which she excelled due to her attention to detail and the way she enjoyed caring for others. In 2015 she began working in an administrative support role in the field of talent acquisition and discovered she had a talent for sourcing candidates. Jenny had an innate ability to believe in and encourage talent in others. In 2022, she became a full-time Talent Sourcer for Allianz Life. She was a self-described introvert living in an industry of extroverts.
Jenny was a beloved aunt who delighted in the relationships she had with her nephews, Alex, Greg and Andrew. She had a fantastic sense of humor and a quick wit. Whenever Jenny was around, you could be sure you’d be laughing.
Those who knew Jenny understood that she was not to be interrupted when the Washington Capitals were playing hockey. She made it a point to know everything she could about her favorite players much in the same way she approached her friendships. She was a kind, thoughtful and generous friend who nurtured those relationships.
Jenny was an animal lover and her beloved dog, Riley, was always by her side until his death. She had recently adopted a cat which she named Queen Lilly after her favorite band and her favorite flower. Jenny was enamored with Queen Lilly and sought to give any pet of hers the best life possible.
Jenny is pre-deceased by her parents. She is survived by her sister, Linda Rubenstein, her brother Joseph (Patricia) Thornberry and her nephews, Alex, Greg and Andrew Rubenstein, Ray Thornberry and her niece Katherine Thornberry. She is also survived by her cousins Tom (Cindy) Mast and Debbie Bakaysa with whom she was as close as siblings.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025 from 1 to 2 pm at John M. Taylor Funeral Home, 147 Duke of Gloucester Street, Annapolis, Maryland 21401. A celebration service will begin at 2 pm. People are encouraged to wear Washington Capitals attire or something red as we gather to remember Jenny.
