Born in 1958 in Elmira, NY, to William M. Jones and Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Jones, Jessica spent most of her early years gathering friends and getting into trouble. From childhood, she was fun, mischievous, full of life, and always ready for a get-together and a good laugh.
She attended Buffalo State College, and during that time, met her husband-to-be, Peter Glynn. They celebrated their 40th anniversary in 2022 — an occasion at which Pete toasted his wife, saying that there wasn’t a day he hadn’t been deeply in love with her. He meant it and we knew it was true.
Jessica’s first passion was her family and friends-who-were-just-like-family, starting with daughters Shannon and Lauren, and swirling out from there, including their husbands, Kevin Goodwin and Steve Fritsch, her grandson, Finn, and an extended universe of friends, cousins and in-laws, adopted sisters and besties.
If the phrase “fabulous lifestyle” hadn’t already existed in the ‘90s, Jess would have invented it. Great living and lovely homes were her second passion and her career. First a successful real estate agent/sales and marketing manager, then a successful interior designer. She started her own company, Park Avenue Interiors in 2004, specializing in decorating and staging model homes, offices and real estate. Jessie was also gifted at giving, supporting causes like the Anne Arundel County Food Bank, Smile Train, Red Cross, and several veterans’ organizations.
Jess loved seeing the world, sparkling at parties, finding (or making) a deal, looking great, Celine Dion sing-a-longs, shopping, decorating, cooking, crafts, Facebook, laughing ‘til she snorted, dinners out, reading (especially novels about hunky highlanders)— and organizing the next event before the first one was finished and the dishes were done. Our schedules all still have the next get-together on the books. We can’t bear to delete them.
Jessica is survived by her husband, Peter; daughters Shannon Goodwin and Lauren Fritsch; as well as her new grandson, Finn Fritsch; and by her sisters Elise (Lisa) Kolaja and Madalyn (Polly) Gentry. Her close personal friends are too numerous to name. There is a hole in all of our lives today. In her honor, please share a smile and a toast with those you love. Yes, she will be greatly missed. But to paraphrase Dr. Seuss, “Let’s not cry because it’s over, let’s celebrate — because she happened.”
A receiving of friends for Jessica will be held Saturday, July 22, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, followed by a memorial service from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared on this website for the Glynn family.
