

Joan Marie Suit of Annapolis, Maryland was a caring wife, mother, grandmother “Nannie,” great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. She passed away peacefully on March 29, 2026, at her home in Annapolis due to natural causes. She was 86 years old when she went to be with our Heavenly Father.
Born on May 28, 1939, in Burwick, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Aaron Andreas and Thelma Andreas (Hoffman). She was the youngest of six children (two boys and four girls). She grew up in Luzerne and Columbia Counties in Pennsylvania, located along the Susquehanna River and surrounded by mountains.
Remaining to cherish Joan’s memory are her devoted husband, John Suit II, who she married on October 1, 1977, in Annapolis, Maryland; her daughter, Sharon (Mark) Stevens; two grandchildren, Jessica (Barrett Sr.) Stevens Duke, and Brian (Alyssa) Stevens; and five great-grandchildren, Barrett Jr., Brendan, Skylar, Everlee, and Aubree.
Preceding Joan in death are both of her loving parents and all five of her treasured siblings.
Joan worked in the banking industry at different financial institutions. In her later career, she advanced to the position of Senior Vice President in the Division of Wealth Management. She took joy in helping her clients to succeed in meeting their financial goals. After retiring from banking, she spent many years working at the Maryland General Assembly in Annapolis, Maryland. Joan also volunteered in the gift shop and nursery for the Anne Arundel Medical Center Auxiliary in Annapolis, Maryland.
Her favorite activities included cooking, and she was most known for her homemade walnut fudge. She also enjoyed reading and spending time in God’s word. Joan loved traveling all over the United States and Europe with her husband and family. Her favorite trips were to Alaska with her grandson (Brian) and Northern Europe with her granddaughter (Jessica). Joan and John also made many delightful memories at the beach and at their condominium in Ocean City, Maryland.
The most cherished times for her were visiting her daughter and playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She spent many wonderful days at her daughter’s home by the Wye River with her beloved family.
She was a member of Saint Mary’s Church in Annapolis, Maryland. Joan became a Eucharist Minister and provided Holy Communion to a multitude of parishioners.
Visitation will be at the John M. Taylor Funeral Home at 147 Duke of Gloucester Street Annapolis, Maryland 21401 on Wednesday April 8, 2026, from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm.
A Celebration of Life Service will take place in the John M. Taylor Funeral Home Chapel at 147 Duke of Gloucester Street Annapolis, Maryland 21401 on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at 11:00 am, followed by a reception in the funeral home reception room from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm. Inurnment will be private and located at Saint Mary’s Cemetery at 845 West Street, Annapolis, Maryland immediately following the reception.
