John Donald Andrew, Jr., age 82, a lifelong resident of Maryland, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2025. Born in Baltimore on April 8, 1943, John devoted his life to his family and his beloved home state.
He graduated from the University of Maryland in 1968 with a degree in Civil Engineering and later earned a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering from George Washington University. As a Professional Engineer, John built a distinguished career spanning decades, contributing to projects that shaped the region—including the Washington Metro, facilities at the National Institutes of Health and the University of Maryland, and his proudest achievement, the Chesapeake Bay Bridge.
Known affectionately as “Jock” and later “Pop-Pop,” John’s greatest joy was his family. He cherished Maryland traditions—crabs, oysters, the ocean, and the Bay Bridge—and delighted in building and fixing things, gardening, traveling, and sharing good meals. Most of all, he treasured time spent with his children and grandchildren, creating lasting memories that will be carried forward.
John is survived by his daughters, Trisha Corbi, married to Tony, and Kerry Kluckhuhn, married to Scott, whom he shared with his former wife, Karin. He was the proud grandfather of Andrew Kluckhuhn and his wife Cadi, Sophie Kluckhuhn, Michael Corbi, Lily Kluckhuhn, and Annalisa Corbi, and great grandfather to Mack Kluckhuhn. He also leaves behind his niece and nephews, Lisa Foard (Lisa), Andy Foard, and Stuart Foard (Debra). John is further survived by his longtime partner of 27 years, Linda Burroughs, whose children and grandchildren became part of his loving extended family.
A celebration of John’s life will be held at a later date.
John will be laid to rest alongside his parents and six other Andrew ancestors in My Lady's Manor, Monkton, Maryland.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his memory to the Chesapeake Bay Trust or the Alzheimer’s Association, honoring both his devotion to his home state and also supporting research to cure a disease that has so impacted him and other loved ones.
