With a heavy heart, we announce that Lea Aldridge Hurt of Annapolis, Maryland, lost her battle with cancer on Tuesday, February 24th. She left this earthly world peacefully, surrounded by her family. Lea lived her life full of hope, love and compassion for all who knew her. She loved her children, Jamie, John and Adam, and her daughter-in-law Ana. She absolutely adored her grandson, Jonah. His presence in her life lifted her so much over the past two years. We are heartbroken over her loss, but know she is free today, no longer experiencing the pain of being sick and unable to do the things she wanted to do.
Lea was a graduate of the University of North Alabama with a degree in professional writing. She achieved many highlights in her career as a TV correspondent, a news anchor, a press spokesperson for a US senator, and a US congressman. When her children were born she left the workforce to raise three wonderful children. She continued to write, providing her services to her church, Heritage Baptist in Annapolis. As her children grew, she decided to open her own Marketing and Public Relations company, forming Trinity Communications 15 years ago. She loved working with small businesses in the Annapolis area, helping her clients grow their businesses. She was very involved in community outreach, organizing several fundraising events for causes she supported. She helped organize an event for the Light House Homeless Prevention Center simply titled The SOUPer Bowl. This fundraising event, held on Super Bowl Sundays, has thrived for 20 years, raising over $134,467 for the Light House since its inception. Lea considered this event one of her lasting legacies. Lea also had a special love for Halloween. She was the self-proclaimed “Halloween Queen,” transforming our home into a Halloween wonderland for the families of Hillsmere Shores.
Lea was an inspiration to many and loved deeply by her family. We are heartbroken that Lea will no longer be with us, but thankful for every day we spent with her. She is preceded in death by her sister Elizabeth Tillman Aldridge. She is survived by her parents Linda and Walter Brooks, her husband Jay, and her children Jamie, John, daughter-in-law Ana, and grandson Jonah, Adam, and partner Trinity Munroe.
Visitation will be Friday, March 13th, at Heritage Baptist Church in Annapolis from 6:00-8:00 PM. A celebration of life service will be held at Heritage Baptist Church, Saturday, March 14th, at 11:00 AM. Lunch will follow the service in the fellowship hall.
