Peggy was born on November 28, 1938, to William and Mary Bowler in the Philippines.
She met James Schwallenberg and the two were wed in California June of 1963.
Peggy and James made Annapolis their permanent home in the 70’s. A devout Catholic, Peggy became a beloved and active member of St. Mary's Parish. She taught second grade at St. Mary’s Elementary school until her retirement and remained deeply involved in parish life throughout her later years.
Throughout her life, Peggy fostered a love for learning about and experiencing other cultures—she enjoyed traveling, later favoring the river cruises where she and James were able to explore multiple cities together. When not traveling, Peggy could often be found tending to her gardens or admiring all creatures that she would find in her own backyard, no matter how small.
In addition to her husband, Peggy is survived by daughters Ann Marie Nau (Dave) and Sarah Alyson Viands (Jay); siblings Josephine "Jo", Eddie, Bob, Betsy, Therese; grandchildren Katie (Alex), Ryan, Sophie, Joey, Bella, Nikolas, Lily, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her son, Jason William Schwallenberg and brother William “Billy”
She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her faith was not just a part of her life-it was the foundation of it.
