Mary Lou was born in Duryea, PA on April 17, 1932 to Anna (Cohen) Granahan and Thomas Edward Granahan. She is predeceased by her brother Jim Granahan and sister Nanci(Granahan) Angel, as well as her niece Heidi Anne Angel.
Mary Lou graduated from Duryea High School and spent her early adult years in the Scranton, PA area.
Seeking to create a new and unique life for herself, Mary Lou moved to Washington, DC more than sixty years ago. A true Washingtonian – she embraced all the good things that the city had to offer and lived her life passionately, lovingly, purposefully.
Mary Lou worked more than four decades in the government relations field in an administrative support and office management role for several energy companies, most notably The Panhandle Eastern Company.
She is survived by her brother-in-law Jack Angel, Nephews John, Brian, Tom and Greg Angel, their spouses, Ann Quinn, Anne Angel, Emily Angel as well as nine great nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass will take place at Annunciation Catholic Church – 3810 Massachusetts Avenue, NW Washington, DC 20016 on Saturday December 5, 1030am.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the US National Arboretum 3501 New York Avenue NE, Washington, DC 20002.
