In Loving Memory of an Extraordinary Man, Mauricio Murillo Manuel - October 27, 1934 – June 8, 2025
It is with heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Mauricio Murillo Manuel (lovingly known as “Daddy/Lolo Manny”, who left this world peacefully at the age of 90. A man of remarkable kindness, enduring strength, and contagious joy, he was not only the rock of his family but also the heart of every room he entered.
He was a retired United States Navy veteran who faithfully served his country. He was a devoted husband to Carmelita Rojas Manuel for over 60 years sharing a lifetime of adventure, joy, and treasured milestones and memories. To his children, Mauricio “Joel”, Melliza “Missie”, and Michelle, he was the best father—wise, easy-going, kind, supportive, and always ready with a smile, a story, or practical advice. To his sons- and daughters-in-law (Steve, Jon/Randy, and Rachel), he was more than family—he was a trusted friend and a source of laughter and warmth. As a grandfather to Julianna, Alexis, Spencer, Kaitlyn, and Andrew, he was a jokester and pure magic: teaching patience with a fishing rod, love with a shared meal, and courage with a dive into the ocean. To his nieces, nephews, and many friends, he was “Ninong/Tito/Uncle Morris/Moy/Manny”, whose humor, love of life, and generous spirit left an indelible mark.
He found his greatest joys in the simplest of pleasures: casting a line at dawn or dusk, diving into clear blue waters, swimming with ease and joy, sharing his legendary love and taste for food, and toasting with a perfectly made margarita. He shared every meal, every story, and every memory with passion. Cooper was his beloved granddog, who never left his side and adored him endlessly.
“Daddy/Lolo Manny” didn’t just live 90 years—he filled those years with love, laughter, and unforgettable moments. He taught us how to savor life, how to cherish family, and how to truly show up for the people we love. He will be deeply missed, forever cherished, and always remembered. Rest well,”Daddy/Lolo Manny”. You gave us a lifetime of light.
Services will be held privately with family. He will be interred at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Crownsville at a later date.
