

Nancy Jane Pyle, formerly of Annapolis, MD, passed away on November 23rd at the age of 96. Born August 28th, 1926 in Daytona Beach, FL, she was the daughter of Donald and Jessie (née Marshall) Van Metre.
Nancy spent her childhood between Florida, California, and Philadelphia, where she met her late husband, Richard L. Pyle. In her youth, Nancy trained as an opera singer, and maintained her love of singing throughout her life, performing in community productions at Baywoods of Annapolis in her later years. Nancy was a homemaker, and loving mother of two children: Sheryl L. Grogg, of Selbyville, DE, and the late Donald W. Pyle, of Annapolis, MD. After moving from her Timonium home in the early 2000’s, Nancy enjoyed her family and friends living at Baywoods in Annapolis, MD, Brightview in Tarrytown, NY and Brandywine in Selbyville, DE.
Nancy is preceded in death by her brother Thomas Van Metre and is survived by her daughter, Sher, and her husband Steven; her grandchildren Richelle S. Grogg and Sean K. Grogg; and her step-grandchildren Randy Boone and Clint Boone.
Services will be held on Saturday, December 3rd, at John M. Taylor Funeral Home at 147 Duke of Gloucester Street in Annapolis. Visitation with the family will begin at 11:00 A.M., with a short service following at Noon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Arthritis Foundation.
