

Nicholas William Scalco, known as Nicky to his friends and family, was born and raised in Laurel, MD by his parents Vincent Joseph Scalco and Betty Ann (Proctor) Scalco. He was a graduate of St. Vincent Pallotti High School. Nicky was a foreman at Dunne Wright Services in Glen Burnie and an instructor at Prince George's Community College. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Annapolis. Nicky had an undeniable zest for life and a passion for crabs, Tippys, lacrosse, traveling, spending time with his wife Amy, fishing, and watching his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers. He made friends wherever he went, and all agree that to know him was to love him. As a true Maryland City boy, he made lifelong friends with not just other kids, but with many Maryland City families. He excelled at athletics, including football, basketball, baseball, swimming, and lacrosse. He was an outstanding member of the Pallotti Lacrosse Team, where he led the team in points. Nicky died peacefully in his sleep at home. He was preceded in death by his mother and mother-in-law, Eileen Claire (Reilly) Lavelle. He is survived by his loving wife Amy Catherine (Lavelle) Scalco, his father, brothers John and wife Sheryl, Joe and wife Mary, Steve and partner Nancy Gettemy, Roy and wife Pam, Bobby and wife Judy, and brother and best friend Michael, sisters Teresa and husband Chris Crider, Dora and partner Chisa Uyeki, sister-in-law Meg and husband Jamie Buckley, brother-in-law Phil Lavelle and partner Cara Quinn, father-in-law Michael James Lavelle, and his nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. The family will receive visitors at John M. Taylor Funeral Home at 147 Duke of Gloucester St. Annapolis, MD 21401 on Monday Nov. 9th from 5-8pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. John Neumann Catholic Church on Tuesday Nov. 10th at 10:30am 620 North Bestgate Rd Annapolis 21401.
