Patti Basil Scott

Born on February 20, 1953, to Betty Rebecca Basil and Owen Alvey Basil Sr., Patti was a proud Annapolis native, the fifth of six siblings in a close-knit family.

Patti was a woman of resilience and devotion. Patti was an integral part of running Scott Marine Service from 1978 for over 44 years alongside her husband, Charlie, all while raising their two children, Kate and C.G. She was the backbone of her husband’s sailing career whether it be on the boat or on the shore. She was known for her provisioning, making the best ‘boat sandwiches’ and good luck ‘wind brownies’.

Patti’s strength was matched only by her fierce love for her family. She was a hands-on mom who gave freely of her time, volunteering at Broadneck High School and leading by example with her energy and care.

A self-described adventurer, Patti loved to travel, escaping Maryland winters to savor Florida’s warmth. But her happiest moments were spent with her grandchildren, whom she adored. To them, she wasn’t just “Nana”—she was their second mom, a mentor, and a source of unconditional love.

Patti was tiny but mighty, with a feisty spirit and an unwavering commitment to those she cherished. She will be remembered for her boundless love, her humor, and the countless lives she touched through her kindness and dedication.

Patti was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Judy Basil Burns. She is survived by her devoted husband of 45 years, Charlie Scott; her siblings, Owen Alvey Basil Jr., Charlie Basil, Carrie Basil Heckert (George), and Susan Basil Morgan; her children, Kate Klebahn (Erik) and C.G. Scott (Jenna); and five adoring grandchildren Dylan, Danny, Kylie, Lexi, and Lainey.

A celebration of Patti’s life will be held on Sunday, December 22, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Annapolis Yacht Club, lower level skipjack room. In honor of Patti’s memory, we invite those who loved her to gather, share stories, and celebrate a life well-lived.

Patti’s love, strength, and laughter will remain with us forever. She was our heart and our home.
