Phyllis Meade Dua

Phyllis was born in Coeburn, VA. She was the daughter of Joseph and Masel Meade. After graduating high school, Phyllis went on to earn her associate degree in Knoxville, TN. Shortly after, she moved to Washington, D.C. and spent several years working as an Executive Assistant in the Department of Treasury and the Department of Commerce. She eventually transitioned closer to home, to support both Senators and Delegates in the Maryland General Assembly. Phyllis’ most significant experience was taking care of others. Shortly after her mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, she exited her career to spend the remainder of her life as a formal caregiver for her mother and her husband.

Phyllis is survived by her daughter Prem (Pam) Dua; son Sanjay (Sonny) Dua; daughter in-law Uma; and grandsons Mitchell and Tyler. She is preceded in death by her husband Ash Dua; parents Joe and Masel Meade; brothers Ivil, Float, Clifford, and Shannon.

A visitation for Phyllis will be held Monday, October 16, 2023 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at John M. Taylor Funeral Home, 147 Duke of Gloucester Street, Annapolis, Maryland 21401. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at 10:00 AM in the funeral home chapel. A private interment will follow at Lakemont Memorial Gardens, 900 West Central Ave, Davidsonville, MD 21035. A celebration of life reception will be held with close friends and family directly after the interment.
