

Robert Stephen Ellis “DOC”, 78, of Annapolis, Maryland passed away on March 22, 2016. He was born December 7, 1937 in Warren, Ohio. After graduating from The University of Notre Dame he proceeded to the University of Illinois to get his medical degree. He served our country as a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy Medical Corps prior to establishing strong community relationships with his private medical practice in Annapolis, Md. DOC was a very well respected Orthopedic Surgeon in the Annapolis area for many years before retiring to Lady Lake, Florida. His joy in life, after his family, was horses and fox hunting in the US, England and Ireland. Further, he also spent time enjoying golf, tennis, traveling, sailing, fly fishing, entertaining and spending time with his family. Giving back to the communities he cherished; DOC was a former President of the Board of Trustees at Anne Arundel Medical Center, a former member of the Board of Trustees at Severn School, a former board member of Maryland Hospice, a member of the Marlborough Hunt Club in Upper Marlboro; the Misty Morning Fox Hounds of Gainesville/Ocala, FL; the Harbor Hills Country Club in Lady Lake, FL. In addition, DOC was a member of St. Mary's Church in Annapolis, and St. Timothy Catholic Church of Lady Lake, FL. DOC was the loving husband to Margaret Ellis who pre-deceased him in 2012; with surviving family members that include his sons, Robert S. Ellis Jr. of Fleming Island, Florida, Christopher J. Ellis of Annapolis, Maryland, and his daughters Lisa A. Ellis of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Lori J. Ellis Hardee of Corning, New York as well as his nine Grandchildren- Noelle, Marygrace, Emma, Ava, Addison, Paige, Gavin, Anthony and Sydney. A Memorial Mass will be held at 9 a.m. on April 11th at St. John Neumann Church 620 N Bestgate Rd. Annapolis, MD. Catholic burial rights service to follow at Crownsville Veterans Cemetery.
