

Rusty was born in Annapolis on July 1, 1944 to the late C.M. “Daffy” Russell and the late Vada T. Russell. He graduated from Annapolis High School in 1962. Rusty lettered in football and lacrosse in high school and was named the top high school football player in Annapolis. He received the “Jim Rhodes Memorial Trophy” in 1962.
He was the owner and operator of a sporting goods store, “Rusty Russell’s All Star Sports”. Rusty was also a member of the Elks Lodge 622 and the Annapolis Moose Lodge. He loved going to car shows, loved the beach and swimming, especially spending winters in Bonita Springs, FL. He also enjoyed playing poker and was an avid Yankees and Colts fan. Rusty most loved watching his grand children play sports and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Lyle Catterton Russell. He is also survived by his sons, John Russell and Daniel Weikert, his daughter Suzanne Sites, and six grand children. Rusty was predeceased by his daughter Anna Russell and his brother John C. Russell.
Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Thursday January 3, 2019 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the John M. Taylor Funeral Home, 147 Duke of Gloucester St, Annapolis, MD. Funeral service will be held Friday January 4, 2019 at 11 AM at St. Anne’s Church, 1 Church Circle, Annapolis. Private entombment at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
