After graduating from Salisbury State College, Mrs. Crosier worked for the Anne Arundel County Public Schools, first as a math teacher at Severna Park Junior High School and then at Annapolis High School *where she served as chairperson of the Math Department. In addition to teaching math, she helped lead the Student Government Association and served as a class sponsor over her thirty-four year career. She was recognized as the Greater Annapolis Chamber of Commerce Educator of the Year in 1996.
Born in Oakland, California on November 16, 1947, to Doris (Gillis) Thompson and John C. Thompson, Sandy was a proud and involved citizen of Annapolis for 68 years. She was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her husband, Carlos, daughter Jennifer and her husband Brandon Wright, and grandchildren Steven and Emily, as well brothers Hoot Thompson and Curt Thompson, her sister, Joanne “Jonny” Lucas, and many nieces and nephews.
Sandy was an active member of her community. She served on the board of her neighborhood association, was treasurer of the Admiral Heights Pool, and most recently, financial secretary for Calvary United Methodist Church, where she also assisted with “Cookie Factory,” a cookie-making fundraiser for the youth group.
First and foremost, Sandy was devoted to her family, friends, and faith, always placing the needs of others ahead of her own. She found daily fulfillment in providing a helping hand along with Carlos, her husband of fifty years. Cooking delicious family meals, spending time with her grandchildren, and supporting the endeavors of her siblings and their families was a source of great joy to her. Even after retirement, she shared her time and talent tutoring any student who needed help to conquer math. Her renowned chocolate chip cookies were welcomed and plentiful at any occasion.
The family will receive visitors at Taylor Funeral Home on April 8 from 2pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 9 at 3:00pm at Calvary United Methodist Church, 301 Rowe Blvd, Annapolis, Maryland. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Germantown Elementary School to build a “buddy bench” in her honor. Checks may be made payable to Germantown Elementary School. Please note the purpose for the donation in the memo line.
