Dr. Thomas C. Jett (“Tom”) of Annapolis passed away on Tuesday February 3rd after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his cherished daughter Samone Jett and son Colt Jett. He also leaves behind his beloved mother Barbara Jett, brother Robert S. Jett, III (Stephanie), brother Chris Jett (Dove), and four nieces and nephews.
Born to Sam and Barbara Jett in Baltimore Maryland. He grew up in Homeland and attended Gilman School from start to finish then on to Denison University in Ohio for his undergraduate degree, where he was a proud member of the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. Tom went on to graduate from Ross University with a Doctoral degree in Veterinary Medicine.
Tom’s passion for animals blossomed during his youth, inspiring him to pursue a career as a large animal veterinarian, with a particular focus on horses. He established his own private practice, serving local farms and equestrian centers, but he was also widely known for his work as a veterinarian with the State of Maryland Jockey Club on the thoroughbred racetracks of Maryland. Tom’s expertise and commitment ensured the health and safety of countless racehorses, earning him the admiration of trainers, owners, and colleagues throughout the industry.
Despite his professional accomplishments, Tom considered his greatest achievement to be raising his two children as a single parent following the passing of his beloved wife, Suzi, in 2019. He was a devoted father, always putting his family first and creating a nurturing home filled with love, laughter, and support.
Tom loved the outdoors, skiing in Vermont, was an avid fan of the Orioles and Ravens, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 14th at 11am, in First Presbyterian Church of Annapolis, located at 171 Duke of Gloucester Street Annapolis, Maryland, 21401. Friends, family, and colleagues are invited to honor Tom’s memory and legacy.
