

Bill was born on January 23, 1934 to Thelma and William Schaub in Washington, D.C. and spent his formative years in Maryland. Bill was a member of the first graduating class of Suitland Senior High School. After graduation, he proudly joined the crew of US Navy ship USS Hornet [https://uss-hornet.org/] and received letters from his best friend’s little sister, Evelyn. In 1957, he married his beloved wife of 66 years, Evelyn Maria Gallo, and together they raised three children in Forestville, Md. Bill was a man of resilience and determination. His pursuit of knowledge was inspirational, as he continued his education later in life to achieve his associate degree.
Bill had many jobs, ultimately finding his way into insurance sales. Bill and Evelyn made Sterling, VA their home for many years. After a long tenure at USAA, Bill and Evelyn started their retirement by moving to Ocean Pines, Md., and remained on the Eastern Shore of Maryland for over 20 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, tennis, football, and he led a supremely active lifestyle in body, mind and spirit. Bill and Evelyn took many trips and cruises around the world together. Bill volunteered through the Knights of Columbus and continued to serve his country as a Census volunteer.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Bill was kind, quick-witted, and generous, and he always greeted visitors with open arms. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; three children, Laura (Rick) Hazzard, W. Gregory (Patti) Schaub, and Sharon (David) Nichols; six grandchildren, Rick (Jennifer) Hazzard, David (Coral) Nichols, Alison (John) McGrimley, Jennifer (Lee) Ballard, W. Charlie (Subha) Schaub, and Stanley Schaub; ten great-grandchildren; and sister, Susie (Tom) Delaney. He was predeceased by his parents and older sisters Audrey Galeano and Dolores Short.

A memorial visitation for William will be held Wednesday, May 29, 2024 from 9 to 10 AM in Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 1210 S Washington St, Easton, MD 21601. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at 10 AM. A graveside service will immediately follow at Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery, 6827 E New Market Ellwood Rd, Hurlock, MD 21643.
