Bennie Mae (Wier) Edwards, age (97) passed away (peacefully, after short illness) on April 24, 2026. She was born May 20th, 1928 in Talladega, Alabama. Graveside service will be held on Sunday, April 26th, 2026 at 1 PM at Edgemont Cemetery.
She enjoyed raising her family during her early years; later starting a career at Kitchin’s Thrift Store in 1974 where she retired with 20 years of service. After retirement, she volunteered at Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center as a “Pink Lady” for years before moving to Prattville to be closer to family. Bennie never met a stranger, loved working with people and took pride in helping others. For those who knew her, she loved to make you laugh, credited her longevity to starting the day with oatmeal and playing bingo at The Gillespie Center. Upon moving to Prattville, she became involved in The First Baptist Church of Prattville and community. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
Bennie is survived by two daughters, Rebecca Willingham (Stephan) of Prattville, and Brenda Everest (David) of Hoover; grandchildren, Kelly Sedgwick, Jaime Johnston (Steve), Alison Craft (Stephen), Kelly Stubblefield (Gaines), Ashley Shaddix (Ryan); great grandchildren, Leanne Johnston Martin (Thomas) & Emily Johnston Clements (Azariah), Annie & Issac Sedgwick, Jackson, John David and Kendall Craft, Evey, Lily, Samuel and Mary Stubblefield, Margot and William Shaddix; great great grand children, Abilene, Ashby Nathan and sister-in-laws Allie Mae Watts and Josephine Carlton.
