Betty Ruth Sims age 94, went to her Heavenly Home on Saturday, August 14th, 2021. She had talked about and looked forward to seeing her Husband, Son, Family and Friends and walking the Streets of Gold, hand in hand with all of them. Betty was born on March 1, 1927 in Texas and raised in Tallapoosa County where she grew up surrounded by a large family. In 1945 she met and married the love of her life, Willard J. Sims, on May 25, 1946. They moved to Calhoun County and eventually settled in the Saks community on 49th Street. They lived there and raised their family for some 40 years. She was a member of Fairview Heights-Northside Baptist Church for many years and retired from Blue Mountain Industries.
Betty is survived by her children, Terry Sims (Linda), Dian Self (Ronald), Patsy Tippett, and Daughter-in-Law, Janice Sims, along with 7 Grandchildren, Jennifer Cochrum (Neil), Windy Beals (Chris), Cindy Machristie (Vaughn), David Sims (Mandy), Trina Brown (Hal), Josh Sims (Kristin), Blake Tippett (Tracy), 18 Great- Grandchildren, and large extended family.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Willard J. Sims; her son, Ray Sims, her parents, Marshall and Ila Mae Anderson, her siblings, Alan Anderson, Jackson Anderson, Don Anderson, Paul Anderson, and Dorothy Melton.
Services for Betty Ruth Sims will be held on Thursday, August 19th at Gray Brown-Service Mortuary in Anniston, Alabama at 2:00 p.m. with burial at Forestlawn Gardens. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Randy Anderson, her nephew, will be conducting the service. Singing will be provided by her nephew, Timmy Anderson.
Pallbearers will be Blake Tippett, Chris Beals, Neil Cochrum, Hal Brown, Josh Sims, Jackson Beals, Jakob Tucker, and Davis Brown.
