

Cornelia Estelle McClellan Moon, of Anniston, died Thursday, May 16, 2013, at UAB Hospital in Birmingham. Her funeral will be held at Gray Brown Service Mortuary on Wilmer Avenue, Sunday, May 19, 2013, at 3:00 p.m., with the Rev. Buddy Nelson officiating. The family will receive friends at Gray Brown for two hours prior to the service.
Born on June 10, 1920, in Jacksonville, AL, Cornelia lived in Blue Mountain before moving to Anniston as a child. She attended Anniston High School. She worked for many years at Calhoun County Creamery, which was owned by her family and located in the 1400 block of Noble Street.
Cornelia was preceded in death by her husband Cecil Moon, her parents Floyd and Violet McClellan and a brother, Clarence F. McClellan. She is survived by her sister, Christine McClellan Rentschler; three nephews, Robert (Nancy) Rentschler, Mark McClellan, and Tim McClellan; two nieces, Cathy Rentschler (Gary Bogart) and Joy (Mike) Baker; two great nieces, Brittney Rentschler and Erika (Jason) Rentschler Harvell; several cousins; and her long-time caregiver, Linda Thomas.
Cornelia was a member of First Baptist Church at McClellan. She loved little children, and worked with the Beginner’s Dept. in Sunday School for many years. She had been a choir member, church hostess, and head of the Flower Committee at First Baptist. She was co-organizer, with her sister Christine Rentschler, of the Pink Ladies at Stringfellow Hospital.
Pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be the Love Sunday School Class of the First Baptist Church at McClellan.
In accordance with Cornelia’s wishes, the family requests no flowers. Contributions in her memory may be sent to First Baptist Church at McClellan, 851 Morton Road, Anniston, AL 36205.
