

Memorial service for Daniel Vaughan Smith, 77, of Anniston, will be held on Sunday, Sept. 11th, 2016 at 3p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Anniston with David Hodnett and Dr. James McLeod officiating. The family will receive friends at Gray Brown-Service from 6-8 Thursday night, Sept. 8th, 2016.
Mr. Smith passed away Sept. 4th, 2016 at Stringfellow Memorial Hospital with his wife and son by his side.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Corayon Ann Hubbard Smith; one son, Daniel Hubbard Smith (wife Jean); four grandchildren, Morgen Loera, Kyle Smith, Danson Smith, and JeanAnn Smith; two great-grandchildren, Cali and Kynli Loera; one niece, Lynda Hubbard Doss; four nephews, Randy, Rick, Robin, and Ronnie Hubbard. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lorene Vaughan Smith and Ferris Wood Smith.
Mr. Smith was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Anniston. He served 25 years in the U.S. Navy and 20 years at the Alabama Dept. of Industrial Relations as a field deputy. Earlier in life he earned the rank of Life in the Boy Scouts, went to Geneva High School and Jacksonville State University where he met his wife.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Anniston or to the Anniston Animal Shelter.
