Dewey P. Pitts

Funeral services for Mr. Dewey P. Pitts, 83, of Saks will be at 1:00pm, Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at Gray Brown-Service Chapel. Burial will follow at Edgemont Cemetery. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Mr. Pitts passed away Saturday, November 2, 2013 at RMC.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Ophelia Pitts; sons, Mark Pitts (Gratia) and Phillip Pitts (Angelique); grandchildren, Alicia Pitts, Logan Pitts and Lynsey Pitts; and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be friends and family.

Mr. Pitts proudly served in the Korean War as a Battalion Agent carrying soldiers and messages to the front lines. He shared many interesting stories with his family and friends.

He loved building things and was a home builder. He later became interested in drafting and was owner of Pitts Plan Service where he completed house plans for builders and home owners all over Northeast Alabama. He loved riding on his tractor, working in his garden, and sharing vegetables with many friends and relatives. He had a love for reading and learning new things. Mr. Pitts always had funny stories and jokes to share that made everyone laugh.

He loved his wife, his children and grandchildren and will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege to know him.
