

Donald Edward Phillips, Sr., age 69, died at DCH Health System in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on Sunday, January 28, 2018. He was born on May 23, 1948 in Anniston, Alabama. Don recently retired from BAE Systems in Anniston after more than three decades. He is survived by his three children, Donald Edward Phillips, Jr. (Norma), Kimberly Hawkins (Steve), and Tammy Curry (Chad); six grandchildren, Rachel Beavers (Danny), Megan Roberts, Kamron Otts (Kenny), Hillary Crow (Andrew), Lauren Curry, Blake Curry; seven great-grandchildren, Skyler Hawkins, Jaden Hawkins, Drake Hawkins, Bentley Otts, Lucas Hawkins, Kinsley Otts, Abel Crow; one brother, Thomas Phillips (Brenda); one sister-in-law, Wanda Robertson (Richard); two nephews, Scott and Danny Phillips; his longtime friend, Judy Bennett; and members of his church family, Eulaton United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Gloria Collins Phillips; his parents, Thomas and Helen Phillips; and two grandsons, Stephen Phillips and Zachary Hawkins. Don was loved by many and will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He enjoyed traveling -- especially to the Great Smoky Mountains in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Services will be held on Thursday at Eulaton United Methodist Church at 2:30 p.m. with the eulogy given by close friend Gorden Mitchell. Family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Pallbearers include Danny Beavers, Kenny Otts, Andrew Crow, Skyler Hawkins, Jaden Hawkins, Richard Robertson, Mike Holtman, Ed Nelson.
